gender
Research question: Does gender have an effect on the power over life?
We have a variable called gender where a value of 0 is female, and the value of 1 is male. My hypothesis is that men feel more power over their lives than women.
Go to Analyze – Regression – Linear
Put the dependent variable into the dependent box and the independent variable into the box below.

Mark the followings: Estimates, Model fit.

Here we would say that (our independent variable) gender has a 0% effect on the power of life, but since in the ANOVA table the p value is above 0,05 (p=0,512) we have to assume that our model is not significant. So, we cannot state that gender has an effect on the power over life, since there is a 51% probability that our result is due to chance. We only accept that there is a difference if there is a less than 5% probability that our result is due to chance.

It seems that men feel less power over their life (b1=-0,077) however p=0,512 so the results are not statistically significant.
This result refutes my hypothesis saying that men feel more power over their lives than women, since the result is not significant. (p=0,512)
